Vitamin D Cuts Risks of Pregnancy
Women who took high doses of vitamin D during pregnancy had a significantly reduced risk of co-morbidities, including premature birth, results of a randomized trial showed.
In a logistic regression analysis controlling for race, women getting the highest of three daily doses of vitamin D had half the risk of co-morbidities as those in the control group.
The relative risk was 0.50, with a 95% confidence interval from 0.27 to 0.95, which was significant at P=0.03.
