Violence globally against women and girls is growing each year and is in epidemic proportions. It is rife in all cultures. Violence against women is exclusively perpetrated by men. We must ask ourselves the question - Why do many men choose violence to solve their problems? & What can humanity do to address this pattern?

*2006 in Australia:

In the last 12 months: One in 20 women (5.8%), or over 440,000 women, were the victims of violence in the last year. 4.7% (363,000 women) experienced physical violence (including physical assault, attempted assault, or the threat of assault). 1.6% (126,100 women) experienced sexual violence (including sexual assault, attempted assault, or the threat of assault).

Violence during a lifetime: Over two-thirds (39.9%) of Australian women report experiencing at least one incident of physical violence or sexual violence since the age of 15.

Since the age of 15, an estimated 3,065,800 women had experienced violence. 29% of all women (2,243,600 women) had experienced physical assault, and 17% (1,293,100) had experienced sexual assault.

People Opposing Women Abuse is an organisation from South Africa which militate against domestic violence and women abuse.


The video shows a part of their newest compaign. It shows how people in the neigbourhood can easily interfere when it comes to loud music, but never react when a woman is getting abused.


According to the United Nation about 70% of women experience some form of physical or sexual violence from men.

The 'city of lost girls' is the terrifying nickname for Ciudad Juarez, a Mexican border town, where more than 600 women have been raped and murdered over the past 15 years.


Mexican soldiers patrol the streets of this border city as part of the federal government's crackdown on the violent drug cartels.


Dozens of federal police and hundreds of local law enforcement officers form part of the contingent that's working to reduce the power of organised crime in Juarez.


But, despite the show of force and presence of so many security officers, young women continue to disappear as a matter of routine.


Sometimes, the only way to tell this is happening is by the flyers and posters in the downtown area asking for information about the latest missing women.

Guatemala women targeted by violent street gangs

Guatemala's murder rate is one of the highest in Latin America. Official figures show that an average of 17 people are killed there every day.


The number of women murdered is also rising rapidly. Authorities blame the killings on street gangs.


Rights groups say the government is not doing enough to protect women.


Culturally, women are seen as inferior to men, so there are fewer consequences for crimes against them. Teresa Bo reports from Guatemala City.

Man Attacked Savagely Pregnant Manager

A Chinese man was caught on CCTV attacking the female store manager of a fast food restaurant in WenZhou, China.


The Chinese media reported that the incident was triggered when the man’s girlfriend called the restaurant from a nearby internet cafe, requesting for delivery of an ice-cream cone. As the ice-cream is not an item in the restaurant’s delivery list, the request was rejected, despite another call by the boyfriend. The furious man than decided to march over to the fast food restaurant to confront the pregnant store manager.


What followed is quite horrifying as he began to attack the manager. The sad thing is that the group of restaurant workers and customers who witnessed the scenes did not try hard to stop the attacker, presumably because he was extremely aggressive. The China netizens however where not so kind. Other than condemning the acts of the man, they also chided those who were present watching the scene unfold but did little to interfere. These netizens bemoaned the general lack of compassion among the Chinese citizens.


The man, named Huang X, 32 years old, subsequently surrendered himself to the local police. The media interviewed him and he claimed that he was drunk at the time of the incident. However he acknowledged that what he did was wrong and is willing to make monetary compensation to the woman.
